The Estonian conservative opposition party Isamaa announced on Saturday (11 June) that it would seek to join the government of the Baltic country. This puts Prime Minister Kaja Kallas' liberal Reform Party back on track to regaining a majority in parliament.

Kallas resigned from her junior coalition partner, Centre Party, on June 3, after it had sided in opposition to government reform of primary education.

Helir-Valdor Seeder, Isamaa chair, expressed optimism that they will find common ground.

Kallas was given a slim majority of 52 seats in a 101-seat parliament by the centre-left Social Democratic Party.

Since Russia invaded Ukraine, the popularity of the Reform Party has risen. According to a Norstat poll in May, 35% of voters supported the party in May. However, annual inflation rose to 19% in April, which is the highest in the eurozone.
