150624_ASEF_OTG_v05-55-project pageThe Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) invites budding and professional photographers to participate in On the Go, a photo competition to showcase the stride of life in Asia and Europe. The contest, celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM), is currently open for entries. The competition will run until 6 rugsėjis 2015.

So far On the Go has received over 500 works from 35 countries. The theme of the contest is based on the pace of life in the two regions, illustrating moments where Asians and Europeans are different and yet so alike.

The people in both regions hold “common values in relationships, family and dreams they have for the future”, stated Ms Gwen LEE, Director of the Singapore International Photography Festival and one of the jury members of the contest. “The theme On the Go is broad enough to encompass all aspects of life, and could mean moments of action, or the purpose that compels individual or communities to take action, and suggest the beat and rhythm in their ways of living,” she added.

“We live in a time where we are more similar than different. Aviation travel, the internet, streamlining of languages have brought Asia and Europe closer together,” highlighted photographer Stefen Chow, who is another member of the jury.

Winning entries selected by the jury will be awarded a trip to Singapore to complete an artistic residency at LASALLE College of the Arts. The awarded works and a further shortlist of photographs will be showcased at various international exhibitions and published in a photo book. The inaugural photo exhibition will be in conjunction with the 12th ASEM Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (ASEM FMM12) on 4 lapkritis 2015 in Luxembourg. The exhibition will also be held in other countries in Asia and Europe. The first stop will be Singapore, followed by Belgium, and then Mongolia, where the 20th Anniversary of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) will be celebrated next year.
